A New Curator for Keats-Shelley House, Rome

The Keats-Shelley House is looking for a new Curator to succeed Dr Giuseppe Albano, who will be stepping down this summer following ten and a half years at the helm of the museum to take up the role of Director of the Freud Museum in London.

We will pay tribute to Giuseppe’s contributions during this extraordinary period of the Museum’s history later in the summer. But if anyone would like to apply for the position of Curator of Keats-Shelley House, the job description is as follows.

Giuseppe Albano, MBE

£45,000 per annum + pension contribution

A one-bedroomed apartment in the museum building is available to the post-holder free of charge

The Keats-Shelley House in Rome is an independent museum dedicated to the life and work of the English Romantic poets. It holds a unique collection and library and receives many local and international visitors. There is an active outreach and learning programme in place for International and Italian schools.

The Trustees of the Keats-Shelley Memorial Association are seeking an experienced museum professional:

(i) to be responsible for maintaining the permanent collection;

(ii) to deliver a programme of events and exhibitions;

(iii) to develop digital outreach projects; and

(iv) to manage budgets and finance.

The successful applicant will also take a leading role in managing and developing the museum with responsibility for a small team of staff and volunteer placements. He or she should be educated to degree level and hold, or be working towards, a recognised Museum or Heritage qualification. Experience in museums or heritage sites is important. A demonstrable working knowledge of Italian and English is essential.
