Keats-Shelley & Young Romantics Prizes 2022
2022’s Keats-Shelley & Young Romantics Writing Prizes are open.
As in previous years there are two age groups. The Keats-Shelley Prize which is open to all and the Young Romantics Prize which is open to writers aged between 16 and 18.
There are also two competitions. A Poetry Prize whose theme this year is ‘Elegy’. This commemorates two bicentenaries: the death of Percy Bysshe Shelley on 8th June 1822 and the composition of Adonais, Shelley’s elegy for John Keats, a year earlier in 1821.

There is also an Essay Prize. Young Romantics are asked to respond to specific questions, while entrants to the Keats-Shelley can write on the life and/or writing of the Romantics writers. We are also thrilled to announce our Prize Chair is the award-winning poet and biographer, Fiona Sampson, MBE.

Our video trailer for 2022’s Keats-Shelley Prizes uses the Didot font that Shelley himself chose for Adonais. Listen to the audio for an 2022 remix of Mick Jagger’s reading of Adonais at Hyde Park in 1969.
